Set up your Plate menu

A practical first-run guide to items, modifiers, availability, channels, and location menus.

Before you begin

Gather the current menu, prices, tax rules, modifier choices, and the locations or service formats where each item should appear. Decide who will own menu changes after launch.

Build the menu

  1. Open Menu management and create the categories guests should scan first.
  2. Add each sellable item with a clear name, description, price, and image.
  3. Add modifier groups only for choices the kitchen needs on the ticket.
  4. Assign the item to the locations and ordering channels where it is actually sold.
  5. Use a location override only when price or availability truly differs.

Check it before publishing

  • Preview the menu on a phone.
  • Confirm required choices cannot be skipped.
  • Place one test order for pickup and verify the kitchen ticket.
  • Confirm unavailable items are hidden or clearly paused.

During service

Use Availability to pause an item or modifier everywhere it is sold. Do not duplicate or delete the menu item just to stop sales temporarily.
